Our Partners

The World Hunger Coalition looks to take on hunger both at home and abroad.

Here are some of the incredible organizations we have worked with to make this happen.

Mary’s Meals provides daily school lunches to 1,035,000 (and growing!) chronically hungry children around the world. Using locally produced food, Mary’s Meals’s model encourages school attendance, empowers local volunteers, and promotes academic success for girls as well as boys. The World Hunger Coalition donated $15,000 to fund the construction and provision of a school kitchen for Mteka School, a primary school in southern Malawi with 209 students. Each year the WHC donates approximately $5,000 to continue the school feeding program. We hope to continue this relationship by sponsoring Mary's Meals each year!

The Monroe Park Grocery Co-op is an urban food co-op located in downtown South Bend whose mission is to provide all people with access to fresh, delicious, and quality food at affordable prices. It is located in the Catholic Worker's drop-in center, Our Lady of the Road. The World Hunger Coalition looks forward to continuing to foster a relationship with the Co-op through volunteer placements and donations.

In Spring 2015, the World Hunger Coalition began a partnership with Ecova Mali Inc., a non-profit working to address the increased need for sustainable farming practices in Mali today. The WHC donated $5,000 to Ecova Mali to be used for the implementation of grain banking systems in numerous rural Malian communities. This organization was recommended to the WHC by a group of students in Prof. Steve Reifenberg's Introduction to International Development class after the students conducted extensive research on various hunger-related development organizations. We look forward to expanding the partnership with Ecova Mali over the coming years, further developing the grain banking systems, and searching for other hunger-fighting opportunities through this organization.

A member of the Feeding America network, the Food Bank of Northern Indiana distributes millions of pounds of food to 185 agencies in six counties. It works with food manufacturers as well as organizations and individuals to gather food and runs a number of programs, including a mobile food pantry and special programs for seniors and children. WHC donated $5,000 to the Food Bank and also provides vouchers for 70 holiday turkeys through our Blood Drive event.
